NOTE: On February 12, 1999, the FCC implemented major changes in the application process for a GMRS license. The FCC also implemented a new application form, the FCC Form 605. GMRS applicants should use the 605 plus the FCC Form 159 ("Remittance Advice"). An electronic copy of these forms is available from the FCC's Web site at: www.fcc.gov/formpage.html
These forms, in the versions available on the FCC's Web site, also include the respective instructions. These forms (especially the FCC Form 605) are still being occasionally revised. This is why we recommend that you obtain the latest version directly from the FCC.
If you do not have personal access to the Internet, you can request that the FCC send you a printed copy by calling its National Call Center at: 1-888-CALL-FCC. You should also be able to obtain a printed copy from the FCC's Web site by visiting your local public library (and requesting assistance for your Web inquiry).
In late 1999, the FCC implemented "electronic licensing" for GMRS. You can now file an application for a GMRS license right from your local computer if yu have the appropriate software and a modem.
Because of this, all of the publications shown below are now out of date. They are shown below merely for archival purposes.
